Principal's Welcome

Thankyou for taking the time to visit our website.

Our team at Ararat Primary School 800 hope you will find the information contained at this site helpful in understanding the educational opportunities we have to offer.

We welcome feedback and would be pleased to provide you with additional information, and a personal tour at your request.

At Ararat Primary School 800 we offer a curriculum that engages all students by offering pathways that meet a diverse range of learning needs.

We offer an exemplary Languages Other Than English (LOTE) program for students from Prep to Year 6 in Chinese (Mandarin); individualised programs for students with special learning needs, extension programs for high achieving students, and most of all we offer a teaching and learning program that is responsive to the needs of individual students.

At each year level, we undertake extensive assessment of reading, writing and numeracy to enable us to teach your children from their individual point of need.  This is a genuine focus for us because we understand the importance of knowing and understanding your children and their learning needs and providing them with individual learning plans and opportunities that meet their individual needs.

Our school is well known in the region as a leader in the Creative, Visual and Performing Arts.  We are very fortunate to have a large number of staff working with us who have amazing skills in this area.  Our annual school production is unrivalled in country Victoria.  It showcases the sophisticated skills our students acquire throughout their time at Ararat 800.  The in-school and extra-curricular programs offered in music, circus, performing arts, visual arts, bands and choir, reflect the unique skills and talents of our staff and their ability to encourage participation at a very high level.

In addition to Performing and Visual Arts, we have a comprehensive Physical Education and Sports Program which is undertaken by all students and offers them the opportunity to not only improve personal health and fitness, but to take part in local and interschool sporting competitions.  In conjunction with this we have a Swimming Program for all students, conducted in partnership with the local YMCA and our Physical Education Teaching and Support staff.

Ararat Primary School is leading the way in Victoria, by offering a teaching program inspired by the Reggio Emilia model encompassing play-based learning. Three of our teachers recently undertook an educational tour of Italy in the city of Reggio Emilia where they built upon their own research and enhanced their skills in working with students a unique, student centred way.  Our staff have embraced this focused approach to working with children and we are very proud to be the first primary school in the region to be offering such a successful and dynamic teaching and learning program.

There are more than 800 reasons to attend Ararat Primary School 800...come and see!

Kind Regards
Jennifer Molan
