Health and Physical Education
Ararat Primary School 800 inspires
students to be involved in physical activities that develop individual
skills, team skills and to develop healthy attitudes and habits.
Students undertake activities such as ball handling skills, skipping,
athletics and team games such as hockey, basketball, netball, soccer,
football. In addition, there are many opportunities for students to be
involved in clinics both within school and others run by outside
organisations for various sports including golf, basketball and
football. We participate in the Jump Rope for Heart program.
Individual and Team Competitions
Students have the opportunity
to represent our school in zone competitions at local, regional and
state level. Swimming, cross country and athletics events are always
popular. Our school also has representative teams in field hockey,
netball, football and soccer that compete locally, and if successful
represent their school regionally and at state level.
Swimming Program
Swimming is an important feature of our school
Health and PE program. Each year level undertakes a learn to swim/water
safety program for one full term each. This is run in conjunction with
the Ararat YMCA and is an inclusive program for students of all skill
levels.
