Extra Activities

Choir

An extension of our Performing Arts program is the Ararat Primary School Junior and Senior Choirs.  There is strong student interest in becoming a member of these performance groups.  Our choirs frequently perform at school assemblies and in the broader community, and upon invitation for special events, such as the Golden Gateway Festival, various retirement villages and day centres and Carols by Candlelight.  This year our choirs will once again perform at different Rural Schools on a full day tour.

Being a member of the choir promotes confidence and leadership skill.  Students also develop their organisational and persistence skills and work as part of a highly motivated team.

Bamboozle Circus

Further to our circus classes offered within the curriculum, students also have the opportunity to expand their circus skills repertoire and join the Baboozle Circus Troupe.  Bamboozle performs circus acts in the local community and is highly sought after for local and regional exhibitions.

Excursions and Camps

Camps and excursions provide extension and reinforcement of classroom activities.  The aim of these excursions and camps is to foster social skills, leadership, respect for the environment, participation and enjoyment. They relate closely to the school curriculum and provide meaningful learning experiences.
Our Prep and Year 1 students are gradually introduced to our School Camp program by enjoying an extended school day and a barbeque tea.  In Year 2 our students have a sleepover at the school, whilst  Year 3 students have an offsite sleepover. Year 4 marks the beginning of a wider ranging camp experience with students attending an activity filled three day camp.  In Year 5, our students experience life in the 1850s at the world famous Sovereign Hill Museum, in Ballarat, then in  Year 6 students enjoy a four day camp in Melbourne which supports their learning about Parliament, Australian History and the History of Melbourne.
